Bauli Girella – Choco Spiral

A cocoa spiral to unroll at snack time

At snack time, you want something soft without getting out a knife or a plate. The Girella is a sponge cake rolled in a spiral around a cocoa cream: you unroll it, you share it, and the chocolate is in every bite.

What you will taste

• Texture: a soft sponge cake that unrolls.
• Aromas: cocoa, butter and vanilla.
• Taste: gentle, with a cocoa that lingers.

How to use it

• As a snack, with a glass of cold milk or a cappuccino.
• Warmed for a few seconds, next to a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
• In slices on a platter, among dry biscuits.

Where it comes from

The Girella was born in 1973 at Motta: a sponge cake rolled in a spiral with a cocoa cream. It passed to Bauli, which bought the Motta brands from Nestlé in 2009. Bauli was founded in 1922 in Verona, when the pastry maker Ruggero Bauli opened his first shop there; the Bauli family still runs it.
